Sorting through some archived posts, I thought this was somehow more funny than stunning… Via BDonline: “This sculpture, named Temenos, will be the first of five giant sculptures to be erected in the Tees Valley at a total cost of £15 million. At nearly 50m tall, it will be three times the height of the Angel of the North. Temenos is the result of collaboration between sculptor Anish Kapoor and engineer Cecil Balmond, deputy chairman of Arup. Temenos – sacred space in Greek – will be shaped from thousands of stainless steel cords stretched between two hoops.”

Although Temenos is translated to ‘sacred space’ as noted above, the form puts in mind some of the more simplistically exotic mammal, insect, fish and bird traps about there…
